This is an NAR sport launch so in order to fly any motors over G in size you must be a current NAR or Tripoli member. NAR Sport launches are held under the Model Rocket, Radio Control Rocket Glider, and High Power Codes of the National Association of Rocketry. The launches usually start around 9:00am or whenever the equipment is set up. We request that everyone helps set up and/or take down the range when it’s time to.

TEDxRainier

I was blown away by the first week of 1 Semester Startup – a new entrepreneurship class for undergrads at the University of Texas where they actually get to work on a real startup company of their own and get mentored by successful entrepreneurs from the Austin community. I’m one of the instructors along with Bob Metcalfe and John Butler. We were expecting 50 students at the first class and almost 100 showed up! The students are smart, funny, and passionate about entrepreneurship. This is going to be a great semester!
The Capital Factory Demo Day is coming up on September 7 and its just about sold out. The attendee list is impressive and the speakers as well. This year we are opening up Demo Day to let other Austin startups take the stage and get in front of hundreds of investors and press. At first we were thinking 10, but we received such a strong response that 15 other Austin startups will be presenting at Demo Day for a total of 20 startups!Help make sure the next StartupDigest has your event on it by filling out the form here.

This week is the first class of 1 Semester Startup – a new entrepreneurship class for undergrads at the University of Texas where they actually get to work on a real startup company of their own and get mentored by successful entrepreneurs from the Austin community. At first we were thinking 10, but we received such a strong response that 15 other Austin startups will be presenting at Demo Day for a total of 20 startups!

This week we have some really great entrepreneur-focused events including Houston’s first Co-Founders Wanted meetup. Come out Tuesday night to the Houston Microsoft center and meet people looking for a partner for their start-up. If you are a start-up seeking a co-founder, then sign-up to “pitch” your company to the group and perhaps you’ll meet your business match!

Thursday morning you can head over to the Dessert Gallery and talk to successful entrepreneurs and start-up founders in open conversation to learn from past mistakes and help find ways to grow your company over sugary baked goods and coffee. For those of you who live way out in West Houston, the Katy Entrepreneur group is having their monthly meet-up and will be talking about noted Entrepreneur Rob Ryan’s new book “SmartUPs”.
