Join DCEW, Do It In Person & Ladies DC to celebrate the holidays and entrepreneurship in our nations capital.

SI Create presents the Michigan Business Model Competition Final Event in conjunction with A2NewTech! Please note the special date and time.

Come watch the competition’s final four teams pitch their entrepreneurial business models at Blau Auditorium on Monday December 12, 2011. The final four teams will win $5,000 in prizes! How do you know you’re “fundable”?

So you started your venture and now you need to raise some seed funds. By now you may have heard that raising funds is not easy and chances of getting funded are quite slim. Is it because of the state of the economy? General sentiments that turn people away from new and highly risky ventures? The naked truth is that there are always funds for new ventures with great new technologies, presenting great business opportunities, provided they are presented to investors at the right time. In this Meetup, we’ll try to find out what is the right time? How do you know that you are “fundable” and ready to put your venture in front of investors with confidence?

 

This event will discuss the growing trend of startup accelerators, hubs, and mentorship programs and their contribution to startups. A few promising startups (Cleeqa, Groovideo) would share their personal experiences with these programs and we’ll have an interesting panel with a variaty of program leaders to learn more about their vision, different models, and strengths (The Junction, 8200 EISP, Venturegeeks, The Library).

Mid-Cities Tech Startup Coffee

Opportunity for startup folks living in the Mid-Cities area to get together and just hang out. Our goal is to build a strong local community of startup-minded people through this regular meetup. This is a very laid back and informal event. Topics of discussion can include technology, business models, funding, marketing and anything else related to startup life!

 

It’s not sexy, but you know what, your tax strategies dramatically impact your business. What good is your profit if you allocate it incorrectly, or are taxed higher than necessary? At this luncheon, participants will hear about some key strategies for small technology-based businesses to use to put themselves in the best position possible.

 

Alook back at the year in PHP and BYOT (bring your own topic) — what has happened with the language and the entire ecosystem surrounding it. If there’s a burning question you’ve been wanting to know about PHP or even just a general web-related kind of question, bring it along and we’ll have some time to talk.
