A jam-packed week for events this week, most of which are following events around the world marking Global Entrepreneurship Week. Most events are free, so make sure you get out and about!

What’s Going on in the Taipei Startup Community

Taiwan Angels Meet (free)

When: Tuesday 15, November 1.30pm – 5pm

Where: 14F, 133 Min Sheng East Road Section 3 (MRT Songshan Airport)

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Taiwan Angels will be presenting some of the success stories over the past year while in the afternoon there’s an opportunity to meet potential investors. See if you can raise their interest!

 

Internet Trends Conference ($2000)

A day of keynotes and panels exploring the trends that will pan out over the coming months and years, with input from Evernote, Shanda, Wawa Bank and Air Camel.

 

Evernote User Meetup (free)

Global Entrepreneurship Week/Taiwan Entrepreneurship Week (free)

A series of talks discussing how entrepreneurship will shape Taiwan’s future economy and how challenging relations with the mainland can be handled from the standpoint of innovation.

 

Evernote Developer Session (free)

If you’re interested in how you can utilize Evernote’s API, come along to this developer session and find out more about leveraging their platform.

 

HTML5 Web Next (Taipei) (free)

Language: Chinese

A series of discussions on the new standard in web browsing, brought to you primarily by Microsoft Taiwan.

Good Morning Taipei Startups!Notable happenings in Taiwan startups this week:

-Richi, a credit exchange center service came online this week. Collate all your credit card points and swap them for Movenpick ice-cream, Pizza Hut and more.

-Two Taiwanese startups will be taking the stage at DEMO Fall this week. Gumhoo and Patisco were featured at July’s IDEAS Show. Let’s cheer them on as they compete for more than US$1 million in prizes.

A series of talks and panel discussions on the state of incubation platforms around the world. With things heating up in Taipei’s incubation ecosystem, this will be an interesting event for those looking to use incubation services to grow their startup.

Peter Choi, the co-founder of Meepoll and Snapshock, has recently created a new Facebook groupfor Hong Kong university students who intend to pursue the path of tech startups. Hoping to convey comprehensive knowledge of entrepreneurship to youngsters, as another viable career alternative. If you are interested in helping out, please join his group and contribute to the community.Lastly, if you are able to afford the expensive ticket (US$3,495) for AsiaD, you shouldn’t miss this great event. London StartupDigest – August 29, 2011

Last week British born John Frankel who is a VC in New York gave a great talk to London Web. If you didn’t make it, you can watch the video or read my report here.

There’s not so many events in London this week, but September has some cracking events lined up (see below!). One of these is the Lean Startup Machine, which comes to London on September 16th to 18th. StartupDigest readers who register this week will get an exclusive 25 percent off the weekend workshop.

What’s Going on in the London Startup Community

webOS London Meetup

No doubt this will be an interesting first meeting of the webOS London meetup – given HP’s recent announcement to discontinue their WebOS devices – but so far more than 20 people are registered to attend this event, perhaps encouraged that HP says it will continue to support the future development of the WebOS platform.

Pearson Plug & Play Launch Party

OpenCoffee is the global meetup founded in London by investor Saul Klein, and for the last 4 years has been providing a weekly informal meetup for entrepreneurs, investors, and anyone else who wants to come along.

Moo’s free parties are famous, but sadly this one is sold out already. If you want to go you’ll have to be quicker! Perhaps next year when they turn 6 years old?

Silicon Drinkabout
