The first International TechCrunch Disrupt was a great experience. I got to meet and chat with Kevin, the founder of Instagram, and Ben Huh, owner of LOLCats, who gave an inspiring closing speech at the end of the conference. The only one question that I have is that many of the companies in the Startup Battlefield had multimillion dollar investments already some capitalized to USD 8 million or even USD 5 million. One company was stated in 2007. Not sure what definition of early stage startup the organizers used but it did raise some questions on selection. However, the winner of Disrupt was fellow Chinaccelerator classmate Order with Me which has a reasonable USD 250k Seed capital and started in 2011. Congrats Jonathan on a fantastic presentation. It was great to meet Tess from the Next Web who was at TC Disrupt as well.Regards,
Frank and David

October will be shaping up to be a busy month for startups as Chinaccelerator Demo Day, Geeks on a Plane and TC Disrupt Beijing comes this way. This past week has seen Beijing get the Transmit Conference, the SIG conference and this week the CLSA investment conference. What seems to be a major worry by institutional investors is this whole VIE controversy of Chinese holding companies and foreign investment. This has also trickled down into startups where BVI and Cayman island legal structures have once again have fallen in favor due to the current climate of Chinese back door IPO listings and the Yahoo-Alibaba situation. Anyone know how to best get a Delaware company legal structure?
