——————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Good morning, startupers! So, I’m back from my short vacation, full of energy and ready to rumble! :D First off, an announcement that if you’re in Barcelona, we just launched a Barcelona Digest! Check it out! By the way, The Lean Startup book from Eric Riesis already out! It’s a must read if you’re into startups, so that’s my recommendation for this week. I haven’t said this in some time but guys, we’re kicking ass, the Madrid Digest is growing like mad. We have more people than many other cities, so my BIG thanks to all of you that follow it. As usual, feel free to email me if you want your event in the digest (and it meet the standards: it’s for startups and it’s in Madrid :P). Finally, I got amazing emails for the “Startups 101 course for non-tech cofounders.” I’ll start planning it and will look for a place to hold it sometime in October, so stay tuned. :D Thanks all for your feedback! Now, let’s kick it! Yeaaaah!

Madrid StartupDigest is curated by:

What You Need to Read This Week

Stop Worrying About Cupholders
By Laura Klein, UsersKnow

Are you building your startup like a car without brakes and worrying about building the perfect cupholder? Wake up and prioritize your limited resources.

The Distracted Designer
By Nils, Drawar

We’re in an attention economy bombarded with information overload and conflicting advice. Why not work like a retro designer and cut the distractions?

Observing Customers Drives Innovation
By Dmitry, Zurb

I’m sure you’ve heard this before, “get out of the building.” But that’s just the first step. You actually need to observe your users (without selling them) and have a keen ear for what they actually do and don’t say.

Validated Learning About Customers
By Eric Ries, Lessons Learned

I included this link so someone could write a better one through the lens of design. What are examples of design decisions you made that were validated?

The UX of Learning
By Tyler Tate, A List Apart

How would you apply this model of learning to better understand your validated learnings? Design methods help you flare outward and focus in; how do you visualize your rhythm?

Act First, Do Research Later
By Don Norman, Core77

I’m generally a fan of a two-pronged approach of both rapidly prototyping at the same time that you’re doing intentional forms of research to generate, evaluate and refine variables around your assumptions.
