Just wanted to start things off with applications to startup accelerators and incubators. For those who are willing to trek to the south of the border, TechStars NYC’s application deadline is coming up on May the 26. Also, be sure to check out Young Entrepreneurs Club’s 10-week launchpad program which hit our radar recently. Applications are due May 25.
On to notable Canadian startup news! Congrats to Sarah Prevette, nominated to the prestigious “Wired Women of Canada” list on The Globe and Mail. It didn’t occur to me until recently that serial entrepreneur and prominent angel angel investor, Dan Martell’s aptly named Canadian startup blog, Maple Butter has launched. Lots of articles are coming out of there that are packed full of insight and value and another great addition to the Canadian startup ecosystem.
As for this week’s events be sure to check out 2020 Media Futures at OCAD, OCE Discovery, DemoCamp, and The Foundery’s Mixer – a new hacker and startup space that recently popped up. If you haven’t yet registered for OCE Discovery 2011, Mesh Conference or StartupWeekend Toronto, make sure to do so as they are quickly approaching.
As always, please let us know if we’re missing any key events and we’ll be glad to include them in future digests through our submission form. We are also open to partnerships with other members of the Toronto tech and entrepreneur community. If you or anyone you know would be interested in partnering with StartupDigest to offer discounts on events, memberships and more, please have them contact us at josh@thestartupdigest.com and will@thestartupdigest.com.
