What’s Going on in the Nürnberg Startup Community

Agile Monday (free)

This Agile Monday will revolve around one of the oldest agile methods: eXtreme Programming. Although many of its principles have caught on by now, some still are heavily doubted in their effeciency, like pair programming. This event will hopefully touch on all of that and more.

Get breakfast together with all the other smart geeks from town. It’s always inspiring and you will get to know new people and hear about current projects. Oh, and the coffee there is the best in town! ;) They bought one of the awesomest coffee machines you can get on the market!

I seldomly include paid events, but this one might be interesting for entrepreneurs just trying to figure the formality stuff out as fast as possible, and getting some advice on how it all works. The 35€ include a 20€ discount to a personalized follow-up consolting session, though.

What’s Going on in the Melbourne Startup Community

ACS Scrum and Lean Leadership SIG (Free)

Mike Cohn defines user stories this way: “A user story describes functionality that will be valuable to either a user or purchaser of a system or software.” User stories are written from the end user’s point of view.”

In agile processes stories are essential in breaking down, scheduling and tracking work. They are a light weight requirements gathering tool that includes a promise for further communication with stakeholders. As such they are a keystone of agile methods.

The Melbourne Patterns Group had its first meeting on February 3rd 1999, and has gathered for discussion of software design patterns regularly ever since. The meeting format is two part, designed to satisfy patterns newcomers and more experienced practitioners alike. All interested people are welcome.
