Last week Josh was out in New York hosting the Capital Factory “Demo Day ATX in NYC.” 16 Austin startups presented to a packed house of 150 attendees and 50 investors. Thanks to Apptive, Hoot.me, Famigo, Foreca.st, Greenling.com, GroupCharger, Loku, Nightraft, OwnLocal, RecycleMatch, Ricochet Labs, Rockify, StoryMix Media, Umbel, and Volunteerspot for making the trip and representing! If the event is successful we’ll see more investor dollars flowing from NYC to Austin.

If you’re interested in the 1 Semester Startup class that Josh has been teaching at the University of Texas along with John Butler and Bob Metcalfe, you can attend the Demo Day on December 1 at the stadium on campus. 20 undergraduate startups will be pitching to hundreds of investors, press and peers. The StartupDigest gets better as more members of our community begin participating. Please help spread the word by sending out a tweet today telling your friends to sign up for the Austin StartupDigest here.

What’s Going on in the Austin Startup Community

Austin Hacker Poker
When: 11/18/2011, 8PM
Where: Cospace, 911 W Anderson Lane #203

We’ll get together around 8pm and have lightning tech talks or demos from anyone who wants to give one – unconference/barcamp style. At 8:30, the first 10 people to RSVP sit down and throw cards to play some Texas Hold’em. We’ll continue to talk about our favorite technologies, our personal projects, or whatever else you want to share that’s startup/tech related. The goal here is to meet your local hackers and entrepreneurs in a non-pretentious and fun way. We’re just using poker as an excuse to talk shop.

Ignite Training Camp
When: 11/19/2011 , 1pm-5pm
Where: Six Bar downtown

Interested in speaking at a future Ignite Austin event or learning more about how in five minutes and 20 slides someone can tell a unique story? The format can be daunting and the stage large, but we want to help you get on that stage and blow the crowd away!
