Austin StartupDigest – August 22, 2011

by StartupDigest on August 22, 2011

Below is an archived version of the Austin StartupDigest Events List – a weekly curated listing of the best tech startup events in Austin. If you would like to get next week’s digest on Monday, sign up here.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————-

This week is the first class of 1 Semester Startup – a new entrepreneurship class for undergrads at the University of Texas where they actually get to work on a real startup company of their own and get mentored by successful entrepreneurs from the Austin community. I’m one of the instructors along with Bob Metcalfe and John Butler. We have 50 students signed up and 30 mentors. I’m looking forward to meeting all of the students!

The Capital Factory Demo Day is coming up on September 7 and its just about sold out. The attendee list is impressive and the speakers as well. This year we are opening up Demo Day to let other Austin startups take the stage and get in front of hundreds of investors and press. At first we were thinking 10, but we received such a strong response that 15 other Austin startups will be presenting at Demo Day for a total of 20 startups!

Do you know any investors who would want to attend Demo Day? I have a few spots left for angels, vc’s and press.
