There are two things on my mind this week. First, I wanted to bring your attention to a group of folks trying to start a brewery in KC. Wilderness Brewery is on Kickstarter, so make sure to give them a look. I don’t know them, but anyone putting themselves out there in our community deserves a chance, so if you are into craft beer and like what they are saying, consider supporting them. Cheers! 

The second thing is this unbelievable heat. We all know that there are plenty of people that pass away in our communities during the hot stretch of the summer each year. I would encourage everyone to take a few minutes and see if there is a way to help combat the heat for elderly or less fortunate people nearby. It is an easy way to make a real difference in the next couple of weeks.

What’s Going on in the Silicon Prairie Startup Community

Startup Drinks (Des Moines)

As usual, we will be at Tally’s again this month. There is no better way to beat the summer heat than having a drink with your startup friends.

KC Next (Kansas City)
Where: Boulevard Brewery, Muehlebach Suite, 2501 Southwest Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64108
When: Thursday July 28th, 5 pm

KC Next is sometimes hit or miss, but I have been seeing more and more entrepreneurs out there, so I am inclined to start fully recommending it. If you are planning to attend, make sure to shoot us a note on twitter @startupdigestkc and we will see you there.

Co-founders Meetup (Omaha)
Where: 1407 Harney Street, Omaha, NE
When: Wednesday, August 3, 2011, 6:30 PM

This is the first time this group is getting together, and it should be in the wheelhouse of everyone that gets this newsletter. Even if you aren’t looking for a co-founder, I strongly suggest you get out and encourage others to find their path to entrepreneurship.

Hacks Hackers Meetup (Omaha)

This event is about bringing people from different backgrounds and groups together. If you didn’t notice, they are meeting up at the same time and place as the above co-founders meetup. In a joint operation, these two groups are hoping to bring together a big group of folks to mix, mingle, and make some new connections. Hope to see you there.
